There’s something about the transition into fall that makes an already beautiful landscape feel a little more special. I painted this piece to capture that brief moment when the trees are at their richest - deep evergreens surrounded by fiery oranges, reds and golds, with the mountain standing quietly beyond them.I love painting places that make you want to slow down and stay awhile, and this one became an exercise in layering color, texture and distance while still allowing watercolor to feel soft and organic. The result is a little window into one of my favorite kinds of scenery: peaceful, colorful and just a bit wild.
